Raza Rumi says state is soft against anti India… by razarumi1
Al Jazeera: Prime Minister of Pakistan says we will no longer have the policy of Good Taliban and the bad Taliban we are going to go after all of them, since the summer they have done operation Zarb-e-Azb in Waziristan, you know a huge campaign to go against the extremists however just now this week they said they are going o give the master mind of the 2008 Mumbai bombings, the terrorists attacks Zaki ul Rahman Lakhvi, they have just arrested him again, so what kind of signal is that from the nation that once they are saying O there is not going to be good Taliban and bad Taliban and but the same time they are about to grant bail to the master mind (of Mumbai Attacks). What did that say to you?
Raza Rumi: It is absolutely a very disturbing signal very embarrassing for the Pakistani Government that right after the Peshawar attack in like two or three days Lakhvi is bailed out by a court but you know dig a bit deeper it is also a systematic failure. Pakistan’s courts are burdened the prosecutorial system is very old fashioned and outdated and it just cannot deliver you know as a rule of thumb only three percent of those who are charged with terrorism cases get convicted in Pakistani courts. It’s a very alarming situation for a country that is battling against a tide of extremists. So on one hand there is this policy that the state is soft on those who go and attack India or at least purport to attack India compare to those who attack Pakistani state. But I think this is also a problem of the justice system as a whole.
Al Jazeera: You have to flee Pakistan after an assassination attack on your life, your driver died. Will you be ever going back to your country?
Raza Rumi: Well the truth is I really want to go back and I would perhaps, I hope so. But you know as you said about you were mentioning Lakhvi. One of the big terror groups that were allegedly involved in my assassination attempt its leader is also being bailed out. I just read it in the news and that makes me wonder whether if I go back will I be safe and this is the problem that a lot of people who are victims of terrorism and survivors like me they face this dilemma whether they are secure in Pakistan or not?
